When Did It All Begin...

The stories of people harmed, damaged or scarred by cosmetic devices such as cosmetic lasers, IPL, Fraxel, VBeam, radio frequency devices and tens of other cosmetic devices have peppered the Internet for a decade or longer. With the advent of sites such as Make Me Heal or RealSelf, and the forum IPL and Laser Damage Support, the word is spreading and eventually the damage caused by cosmetic medical devices cannot be denied by cosmetic medical device manufacturers,  medical practitioners and med spas around the world.

People have been harmed by cosmetic medical devices on every continent of the globe. The side effects from cosmetic lasers and light devices, such as IPL, range from burns, scars, eye damage, systemic illness, orange peel texture skin, extreme dryness, dents in the skin,  'stretched' pores, facial fat loss, facial sagging, and the list goes on. The emotional devastation is immeasurable.

Procedures performed with these devices range from the treatment of acne and rosacea to facial rejuvenation and hair removal. Those treated are often told, "There is little or no 'downtime' ", "It's a lunch time procedure", or "There are few or no risks", "It's safe ".  Those who are harmed and have fallen victim to this type of hype and marketing would tell a different story. Lives have been altered forever. Faces have been forever changed. The health of some will never be the same.
